Lunchtime Run with Mike P, Bill and Mike.
After our run yesterday, Mike P and I decided to get together for a lunchtime run today, putting in our usual 10k. We started off with Bill and Mike as well, with Bill and Mike dropping off a bit behind as we got going. Once we got in gear, we put in a great effort, starting off with an 8:32 mile, but following that up with a 7:50 mile then finishing the third mile with the big hill in 8:07. After that, we went up a bit more, then saw that Bill was climbing the hill so we decided to turn around and join back up with him. This caused us to slow for a min before joining together for the rest of the run, finishing in 8:12, 8;02, 8:07 and then the final 0.4 miles at an 8:18 min/mile pace. It was a great run and a great way to break up the day.
This year, like last year, I will be riding for Mary Payton's Miracle - My friend Steve Kogos from Trigators informed me that his friend Joe's daughter, Mary Payton, was diagnosed a number of years back with Late Infantile Batten Disease. This is a disease with no cure, however, there are special experimental (and extremely expensive) treatments which have shown some significant signs of success! In order to assist with the costly treatments and research, Mary Payton's Miracle was created to raise money to find a cure, hopefully in time to save little Mary Payton as well as the many others affected by this terrible disease!
